Dr. Benjamin Burton is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and founder of The New Jersey Centers of Physical Therapy. With a lifelong commitment to serving others—whether through healthcare, environmental conservation, or community outreach—Dr. Ben has established himself as a leader dedicated to creating a better future for people, wildlife, and the landscapes we all share.
As the founder of Restore Native Plants, Dr. Ben has led efforts to protect and restore 216 acres in Northern New Jersey, planting over 79,024 native plants and removing more than 834,935 invasive plants. He has pioneered innovative methods ensuring the survival of endangered flora and fauna that are vital to America’s natural heritage. His work reflects a deep belief that restoring native ecosystems is essential for supporting local economies, public health, and the biodiversity upon which all life depends.
Dr. Ben’s mission is rooted in the idea that we are all stewards of the land. By collaborating with volunteers, businesses, and government agencies, he seeks to preserve thriving, biodiverse landscapes for future generations. As he explains, “Native plants provide the foundation for healthy ecosystems—they sustain insects, birds, and animals, while improving soil and water quality. Replacing invasive species with native plants restores the delicate balance of our environment and benefits both people and wildlife.”
Beyond his work with Restore Native Plants, Dr. Ben has sponsored the creation of the Dr. Ben Burton Native Plant Garden at Teaneck Creek Conservancy, a space designed to educate school groups, scouts, and homeowners about the importance of native planting. Through partnerships with organizations like Harlem Grown, he has extended his environmental initiatives to urban communities, empowering children to connect with nature and understand the value of sustainable living.
A dedicated philanthropist, Dr. Ben is also the author of a children’s book available for sale on Amazon, with all proceeds donated to support no-kill animal shelters. Additionally, Dr. Ben promotes positive communication and mental well-being through management techniques he developed based on the most current science of Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB). These techniques focus on fostering healthy relationships, enhancing emotional intelligence, and improving resilience in individuals and teams. By applying these principles, Dr. Ben has educated a broad range of people, including professionals in healthcare, education, parenting, business, and industry, empowering them to build stronger, more collaborative communities.
Dr. Ben’s work exemplifies a commitment to preserving America’s natural resources and empowering communities to take action. His innovative approaches to conservation, combined with his dedication to education and service, make him an inspiring leader who bridges diverse perspectives for the common good.
